Category Business Development Manager – Global Online Marketplace

Our client is one of the world’s first e-commerce companies from the US that facilitates both consumer-to-consumer and business-to-consumer sales through their global marketplace. They currently have operations in more than 30 countries, serving their customers worldwide with their shopping website that allows customers to sell and buy a huge range of goods and services online. Our client is expanding their operations in Thailand and is seeking an experienced Category Business Development Manager to take on following role

 

The Category Business Development Manager will be focusing on Fine Jewelry & Gemstones category and responsible for the business development tasks including developing a strong pipeline of sellers in Thailand for global exports through direct new seller acquisition and through building and maintaining partnerships. The overall duties and responsibilities of this sought-after position are outlined as follows:

 

  • Directly acquiring sellers in accordance with High Potential Seller profile
  • Reviewing and vetting inbound leads, onboarding them, and providing incubation support in accordance to their potential
  • Running initiatives and projects around lead generation, seller onboarding and Gross Merchandise Volume acceleration for new sellers
  • Collaborating with marketing on awareness building and lead generation activities
  • Resolving seller complaints and escalating issues to Make-it-Right for sellers
  • Evangelizing the platform as the Best Export Marketplace and advocating for the adoption of promotion programs, marketing, and CS channels

 

Qualifications Required:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in business, or any related field
  • At least 3+ years of professional experience within an e-commerce, retail merchandising or category management role (Familiarity with Jewelry & Gemstone category is highly preferred)
  • Must have relevant experience in e-commerce sector and passion for e-commerce
  • Excellent command in both spoken and written English
  • Excellent, solutions-focused interpersonal and communication skills
  • Entrepreneurial, analytical, and creative mindset with desire to take ownership of work
  • An independent, proactive, and effective player under pressure
