Finance Director - Retail

Our client is an international home improvement retailer of construction products and appliances that operate large formal stores across South East Asia. With stores averaging up to 10,000 SQMs, our client is expanding their regional operations and opening up their first outlet in Central Kuala Lumpur and will continue to open new outlets across Malaysia as part of their expansion plans. Due to the forthcoming entrance into Malaysia, our client is seeking several key senior-level leaders to head their expansion.

The Finance Director will report to the Expatriate Chief Financial Officer based abroad and take ownership of all finance and accounting operations nationwide. The sought after candidate will and will take an active role in the overall management of the finance and accounting department. This position will be responsible for developing and maintaining accounting principles, practices and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements are produced and communicated to the senior management team. The Head of Finance will also be responsible for the supervision of the general ledger, cost accounting, and fixed assets to ensure they are completed in a timely manner and adhere to the group and local accounting requirements. Additionally, the leader will continuously develop and recruit an expanding team of subordinates as our client's company is continually expanding and looking for Thailand’s best finance professional.

Qualifications:

  • Qualified to degree level in Accounting or Finance, a Master’s Degree would be a plus.
  • At least 10 years’ experience in accounting and finance functions, with at least 5 years’ experience in a senior-level finance or accounting post preferably within a multi-national retailer with various outlets across Malaysia.
  • Experience in strategic planning and execution.
  • Knowledge of contracting, negotiating, and change management.
  • Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles.
  • Knowledge of managing an ERP system and experience in Oracle/SAP/MFG is preferable.
  • Very good English communication and writing abilities.
