General Manager - Fashion (Myanmar)

Our client is a Myanmar’s largest private company employing with businesses ranging from retail, Fashion, Consumer Electronics, Consumer Goods and a sizable logistics and distribution business. Headquarter in Yangon, our client employs over 10,000 people within the country and operates a very successful business in one of ASEAN’s fastest-growing economies. Due to an overwhelming increase in their fashion division (Mynamar’s largest brand retailer), they are looking for an experienced General Manager to manage their fashion business unit in the following role.

The General Manager will report to the Board of Directors and be responsible for the running and management of our client’s fashion retail business in Myanmar. This will involve P&L responsibility, managing principles and ensure the continued development and profitability of a highly successful and growing business. This will involve the following key responsibilities

  • Providing leadership and motivation to everyone across the company and develop a growth strategy for new channels if required
  • Overall management of the current distribution and retail channels
  • Responsible for managing staff, sales and operational planning and execution, financial and budget planning
  • Motivate, evaluate and retain a dynamic sales team and build team spirit
  • Manage the financial budget of the organization and ensure that costs are kept at an optimal level
  • Continuously look for ways to improve the efficiency and lower the cost for the business unit and make recommendations and changes as necessary
  • Develop and implement a sound pricing strategy for all products in both wholesale and retail channels
  • Review the financial performance of the company on a regular basis and come up with procedures and changes that will result to healthy financial results for the company
  • Oversee the operations in sales, marketing, finance and accounting, admin and HR, and inventory to ensure the efficient daily operations within the company
  • Facilitate smooth flow of work between the different departments within the company and resolve inter-departmental conflicts should they arise
  • Ensure that all employees are performing their respective job responsibilities and are meeting or exceeding expectations


  • Qualified to degree level in a related subject.
  • Preferably at least 7 years of experience in the fashion retail sector
  • Business-oriented with strong skills in analysis, problem-solving, planning and decision making
  • Stakeholder and vendor management background.
  • Management and leadership skills including hiring, coaching, and performance management and the ability to achieve results through others
  • Has a mindset of continuous improvement and using data to make decisions in enhancing business processes
  • Strong in written and verbal communication with good command of the English language.
  • Should be able to communicate across different levels of the organization
