Our client is a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) who has started off as a consortium of 10 universities from four countries, including Vietnam, in Southeast Asia, who collaborate to build One Health capacity and academic partnerships with government, national and regional stakeholders in the Southeast Asian region. Established 10 years ago, our client now has expanded their network membership to more than 90 universities in eight countries and has continuously promoted and developed the idea of One Health approach, with support from the U.S. Agency for International Development. For the sustained and persistent development of the foundation, our client has an opening for an experienced Country Technical Officer to join in their newly initiating project in Vietnam and take on the following role.

The Country Technical Officer will be working under the Wildlife, Livestock, and Epidemiology (WLE) Resource Hub, which focuses on wildlife science, livestock production, disease ecology, etc., and will be reporting to the Country Team Lead. This sought-after position will be participating in country-level work planning activities, providing technical support and leadership in their specific discipline, as well as assuming the following key responsibilities:

  • Consulting with the Country Team Lead in implementing of activities in their specific discipline
  • Participating in design, development, and review of interventions
  • Providing and managing logistical and technical support for field activities
  • Managing data and technical support during field attachment activities
  • Supporting capacity building by participating in training and mentorship
  • Supporting advocacy efforts by working in close collaboration with government and other in-country stakeholders for support and buy-in
  • Collaboratively working with other team members and with the other resource hubs
  • Performing any other duty as assigned by Country Team Lead, in-country institution/leadership, as well as project management


  • Master’s or Doctoral’ s degree in healthcare-related field (Public Health, Epidemiology or Veterinary Medicine, Wildlife Sciences, etc.)
  • At least 2+ years of progressive in-country work experience in health-related areas, with government agencies, communities, intergovernmental agencies, academic institutions, international agencies in country, or NGOs
  • Good understanding of One Health concepts and expertise in a discipline or several relevant areas
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite and comfortable with social media
  • Excellent command in organizational, written, and verbal communication English and Vietnamese
  • Excellent collaboration skills, with ability to work productively in teams and in multicultural and multidisciplinary settings
  • Gender and cultural awareness and sensitivity
