Our client is a UK-based company that develops high-tech tools and systems used in scientific research and advanced manufacturing. Their products help scientists and engineers study materials at the microscopic and atomic level, work with quantum technologies, and develop new innovations in fields like semiconductors, nanotechnology, and life sciences. Currently, they are seeking an experienced Field Service Engineer to support the organization and their customers.
The Field Service Engineer will support the full lifecycle of advanced scientific equipment—from installation and setup through to ongoing maintenance and technical support. This role is based in Thailand and involves regular travel to customer sites to ensure optimal equipment performance and user satisfaction. This will involve the following key responsibilities:
- Coordinate and carry out the installation and start-up of complex instrumentation at customer locations.
- Conduct regular preventative maintenance to ensure systems meet performance standards.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues involving mechanical, electrical, vacuum, cryogenic, and temperature control systems.
- Provide hands-on training and operational guidance to end users, ensuring safe and effective use of the equipment.
- Document service activities thoroughly, including diagnostics performed, parts used, and any follow-up actions needed.
- Maintain a well-organized stock of spare parts and tools necessary for field operations.
- Offer remote technical assistance where possible and escalate unresolved issues to appropriate internal teams.
- Follow safety regulations and protocols related to hazardous materials, electrical systems, cryogen handling, and vacuum operations.
- Collaborate with engineering, R&D, and quality teams by reporting recurring issues and sharing customer feedback.
- Continuously update personal knowledge and technical skills as new products and technologies are introduced.
- Travel regularly throughout Thailand and occasionally within the surrounding region; overnight stays may be required.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical or scientific field such as Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Instrumentation, or Physics. A higher degree is advantageous but not essential.
- 3–7 years of practical experience in field service or equipment support, preferably involving high-precision or scientific systems.
- Solid understanding of diagnostics in electrical, mechanical, or vacuum-based systems; ability to interpret technical diagrams and schematics.
- Experience with cryogenics, magnetics, or ultra-low temperature environments is a plus.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities; capable of working independently in the field.
- Fluent in Thai; confident communication in English is essential.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel frequently.
