Senior Trade Officer - Trade Office/ Embassy - Smart Search Recruitment

Our client is a public sector entity of the Hong Kong Government that was established to promote trade and investments throughout the world.  Run as a commercial entity outside of the Hong Kong Government’s authority, our client’s operations work on bilateral trade and promotions to market and promote Hong Kong to business throughout the world. Currently, they are looking for an experienced Trade Officer to take on the following role.

The Senior Trade Officer will work under the supervision of the Executive Director in our client’s Bangkok offices and work within local and overseas teams to analyze and promote Hong Kong trade relations with various stakeholders. This will involve the following key responsibilities:

• Monitor and report on major trade and economic developments in assigned countries.
• Design and conduct studies on topics related to opportunities and challenges in investment, trade, and other exchanges.
• Arrange duty visits and meetings, prepare briefs, speeches, and reports, and organize events such as business forums and seminars.
• Handle enquiries and requests for information on various trade issues.
• Assist in work related to promotion of trade and commercial relations in assigned countries, such as liaising with government officials and business circle.
• Handle trade and miscellaneous enquiries from the public and liaising.
• Prepare briefing materials and reports, including country briefs and bi-monthly reports.
• Organize, maintain, and update records of works related to trade promotion and commercial relations.
• Perform the administrative-related work of the division.

Qualifications:

• At least a bachelor’s degree or above in Political Science, International Relations, Statistics, Marketing, or other related fields.
• A minimum of 5-7 years of work experience preferably in a similar role in a Trade Agency/ Chamber of Commerce/ Embassy/ Consulate or public sector entity.
• Previous experience in business development and/or Trade Analyst is preferred.
• Previous experience working in a regional role dealing with B2B business decisions makers in various countries is preferred.
• Proficient in written and spoken English and good communication in Thai. Knowledge in Chinese, Burmese, Khmer, or Bengali is a plus.
• Sound knowledge of common business software, including Microsoft Words, Power Point and Excel, etc.
• Highly detailed with strong organizational skills and ability to work under tight deadlines.
• Proactive, hard-working, and self-motivated.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work well independently and as a team.
